Bye Bye Personal Rights

I followed a link from The Drudge Report to an article on Newsday.com.  It's all about how the newest Senator from New York, Kirsten Gillibrand, has moved two rifles from under her bed.  OK, so maybe that's news and maybe it's not.  But Newsday contacted Senator Schumer, the Governor and Mayor Bloomberg for comment.

This is the point where if I were speaking instead of typing I would be shouting.  I know she is a Senator and that means giving up some of your privacy.  But if she is not breaking the law, what she does in her own house is her business.  The media are so desperate for stories these days they will create controversy if none exists.

People are upset with one woman being quoted as saying, "I don't know why she needs two rifles."  Guess what, lady.  It's none of your business!  I understand there are differing views on gun ownership.  Fine.  Have the debate.  But, with the help of the media, activists have gone beyond any debate, directly to demonizing anyone who doesn't agree with them.

It doesn't matter if you own a gun or not.  Chances are, eventually, there will be something you do own or enjoy that is not accepted by those who would decide for you what is acceptable.
